Mahalo to 2022: Slowing Down and Reflecting

There’s a lot to be thankful for during this magical time of year. Here in Maui, Christmas season is in full swing, and we’re getting closer to ringing in the New Year. There’s a lot to love about Christimetime in Hawaii: Colorful lights pop up on palm trees, surfers adorn Santa hats, and holiday songs fill our towns and resorts.

This is also the time of year where Hawaiiian tourism is at its highest. Thousands of vacationers choose to trade below freezing temps for warmer weather, snow boots for hiking shoes, and skiing for snorkeling.

This is why we’re so excited to share with you even more adventures through Helewai Eco Tours, as we’re now offering additional West Maui hikes, an ocean to mountain adventure, and snorkeling.

If you find yourself in Maui during the travel season (which let’s face it, is anytime of year), our Honolua Ridge Hike in West Maui is perfect for families and those of all ages. This guided trail is a great way to slow down, get away from the crowds, and immerse yourself in the beauty of Maui’s native forecast and private conservation lands.

For those looking for a longer, more challenging hike, we now offer our Mahana Ridge Hike. The trek lasts 4-5 hours and you’ll gain an even deeper understanding of Maui’s connection to water and the importance of nature conservation. Our guides are passionate about conservation efforts–and not to mention the best storytellers. There’s a bit of elevation uphill, so we make sure to provide walking sticks to all our guests.

Along with our guided West Maui hikes, we’ve launched our Mauka to Makai adventure. There’s something truly special about snorkeling in Maui for the first time. Hawaii has some of the clearest blue water, and being able to be up close to marine, reefs, and color flora is an unforgettable experience. This half-day, reef-to-ridge adventure includes a 1-hour snorkel lesson, followed by a mountain hike through Maui’s largest conservation preserve. The trail is exclusive to our guests, so you’ll be able to really feel an intimate connection from the mauka (mountain) to the makai (sea).

And lastly, we have partnered with We Go Maui, a like-minded eco company, to offer two Ocean Experience tours in the New Year. You’ll learn the fundamentals of snorkeling as well as our ocean’s ecosystem during this 1-hour experience. Whether you’re a swimmer or nonswimmer, all the equipment is provided so can enjoy the plentiful marine life. Another reason Maui has some of the best snorkeling is due to its native population of green turtles–a beautiful sight to see.

There’s so much to look forward to as we ring in the New Year. Much adventure awaits. Until then, we’re slowing down, reflecting, and enjoying the holidays with the ones we love most. Mahalo for a wonderful 2022, and we’ll see you up on the mauna next year. Won’t you join us?
